Become a Certified Master Gardener!
The Lawrence County Master Gardener Class is open to anyone with an interest in horticulture, a desire to develop and/or improve their horticulture skills and a willingness to help others do the same.
Training is held at the Lawrence County Extension Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Classes begin around the end of January and ends at the first of March. The training will cover a variety of topics including vegetable gardening, basic botany, tree and small fruits, lawn grasses, control of insect, disease and weed pests. Specialized instruction dealing with soils, basic botany, fruits, vegetable gardening, disease, backyard wildlife, herbs, woody ornamentals, gardening with native plants of Tennessee, turf, house plants, insects, bees, pruning and composting what is gone over in class. Cost of the 9 week program is $100.00. Additional family members may attend for $25.00 per person (if sharing a handbook). Registration fees, once paid, are non-refundable.
